Trio Ek/Janson/Svensdotter
Helena Ek, voice / Peter Janson, double bass / Anna Svensdotter, flute
”Ek reaches incredibly high notes, Svensdotter becomes a wind tunnel, and Janson tries to weave himself into the strings”
The members in this improvisation trio has their background in different genres: Swedish folk music, contemporary music, jazz, and early music. Their improvisations are coloured by this, but the inspiration can also come from the contrast between the words of meditation for the pilgrim, and the seven deadly sins.
Their playing with words and expressions mouldes the music into something ”..playful, humourous, like an animal - with an insisting force that creates something that can almost be described as a musical quarrel between Ek, Svensdotter and Janson..”
Trio Ek/Janson/Svensdotter was formed 2009, with the premiere concert at the Kalv Festival 2010.
In October 2011 the trio started a collaboration with Göteborgs Konstmuseum, on a series of guided art tours turning into concerts. The trio also has a brand new project together with the artist Nils Ramhøj: ”Platons grotta”. In these collaborations the ensemble wants to find and communicate the tone, the rythm and the feeling in a painting - to make the music multidimensional and interact with the art, to use more senses than hearing.
